Northern Pintail
Hyoko, Niigata, Japan.

Northern Pintails have been increasing at Hyoko since I started visiting. They are wild but know they are safe behind a fenced habitat. You can stand on one side of the fence and they carry on with their business just centimetres away. Actually I got stacks of shots of them over a few visits but may as well go mad.. They are beautiful.

Hola Russell bonitas fotografias del Anade rabudo tal commo lo llamamos aqui en España.Un saludo
Stunning images. This species is very rare to Malaysia.
Great Pintail shots, up here they are just shy ducks that fly off as soon as you even look at them........
Cool, they look just like the ones we have here. They are beautiful birds. I love the bokeh in that first shot.
Wonderful pictures!
the last one is absolutely fabulous!
These ducks hibernate but don't nest in France and I haven't seen them yet!
Still another challenge ahead!
Thanks for this!
Cheers, Russell!
Great shots Russell and that header photo is out of this world.
Noushka is right, the last one is great as each male has a different wing position.
I think some birders neglect looking at ducks. Your pictures show how beautiful Pintail is, especially the last in flight shot. Super shots Russell, wish I could get so close to wild Pintail
Stunning photographs - all of them. I especially enjoyed the last one.
That explains why we don't have so many pintails here in the south. Love all of the flight shots, especially the landing series! You've managed to capture them really well in flight.
Stunning photos! All amazing!
