Here are a couple of shots of an Eastern Grass Owl in flight at Cape York back in 2012. I took these photos through the back window of a 4WD when on the Kirrama Wildlife Tour.
I was then, and am still, amazed by the ability of the focus system of my D800. It picked up the owl just with a single spotlight on it.

Wow BIF shots in the dark........................!!!
Heck Russell. I would never have thought to even try try my Canon in the dark like that. I don't think it would register much, least of all an owl in flight.
"BIFs in the dark" - yes, that's impressive AF !
