Eastern Spinebill

Eastern Spinebill, male
(Middle Ridge, Toowoomba, August 24, 2011)
-Thanks to Michael Atzeni
I'm not good at photographing small birds. I would have loved to have gotten this guy posing with the flowers but he didn't want me to even though I had a whole day to try! Australia has so many beautiful little honeyeaters that fidget and hop around in beautiful brushy bushes and trees. You have to be good to get them though. As it ended, I was just happy to get something of him.

I love Australian honeyeaters! They remind me of sunbirds in Asia. This Eastern Spinebill looks really handsome!
