Birds of Toowoomba - Crested Pigeon.

 Crested Pigeon
(Toowoomba cemetery, December 29, 2010)

I was going to do a single post about the common birds of Toowoomba but realised it would end up being huge. So anyway, I'll occasionally post one species at a time.

I thought Crested Pigeon is a good place to start. I like these pictures and think that Crested Pigeons are delightful birds that can easily be seen in Toowoomba. They're often seen sitting on power-lines or house-hold TV aerials looking like their crest is working as part of the service, sending and receiving signals from/to somewhere.

It's such an amazing common bird, Russell. I'd love to have a pigeon like this around my town as well.

They certainly look like they are "plugged in" !

That's a cracking species Russell. Wouldn't mind seeing one of those on our roof and getting trampled in the rush.

Love the strange sound they make when they fly, very distinctive noise and hard to describe. Cheers, Rob
